USPCC under 11s v Portsmouth Community - 22nd July 2010

Our penultamate game of the season played away at Drayton Park. Portsmouth Community were put into bat and our young team didn't disappoint. With consistent bowling the team, which this game included our first female player, reduced Ports Comm to 242 / 9 after their 20 overs. In reply, US with a determined look about them, proceeded to clock up the biggest score and win of the season so far of 343 / 2, a win by 101 runs, with one game left to play. Everyone of the team contributed in one way or another, be it by bowling or with the bat and should be very proud of themselves for a great match & outcome.

Under11s v Portsmouth 16/7/10

Home again, Clarence Pier ground again, good or bad omen, we knew we were in for a good game. The US pairing of the Saunder brothers opened the innings & made a shaky but steady start. Three 4's from the first four overs & a few singles meant we were on our way. With everyone of the Colts adding runs at each pairing & a confident flurry at the end US scored 313 /2. Now it was our turn. C Lyster into attack, first ball, wicket!. H Gadd, 2 further wkts & a maiden over all in the first 4 overs reducing Portsmouth to 197. With further, steady bowling & not giving too much away, US kept up their momentum and reduced the visitors to 291 / 6 - a brilliant win by 22 runs. Well Done!

Under 11s v Burridge: 9/7/10

Another home fixture, again at Clarence Pier Ground. Burridge one of the favourites in the league proved to good an opponent on this occasion. Best bowler today was E Saunders bowling 2 overs for 2 runs. Taking 5 wkts wasn't enough to stop Burridge accumulating 349 runs in their innings. However, not being down hearted US went out to bat but had really met their match tonight. Sadly, even with a late flurry of runs US' innings ended on 283 / 4. A hard fought game ending in a loss of 66 runs.

Under 11s v VTC 25/6/10

The 5th game of the season and with 2 loses and 2 wins under their belts it was game on. VTC were put into bat & within the first 4 overs were 4 wkts down. Great start but didn't have it all our own way. VTC kept a tight hold on the reigns losing a wkt in the 9th over but in the final 2 overs lost another 3 wkts, resulting in H Gadd picking oup 6 wkts in the innings. Now for US' turn.Over by over we played on a par with VTC. By the 12th over we were 18 runs ahead. Unfortunately, with some good bowling on VTCs part & losing 3 wkts in the next 4 overs US were now 24 runs behind. Our final pair of C Lyster & H Gadd dug in deep knowing it was all or nothing & with some good shots managed to get within 1 run of the VTC score. An exciting game but unfortunately US returned a loss. VTC 293 /8, US 292 / 3.

Under 11s USPCC v Havant 18/6/10

This game saw USPCC play for the first time at BRW against a very confident Havant team. As always the boys played their hearts out losing only 3 wkts in their innings, resulting in 274 /3. In reply Havant came out fighting and by the 14th over had already accumulated US' total. However, with some great bowling from our final 5 bowlers, J Browning, C Saunders, E Saunders, C Lyster & H Gadd the visitors could only add another19 runs to their score, finishing up on 292 / 0. US may have lost by 18 runs but it was a good game played in good spirits.

USPCC under 11s v Gosport CC under 11s

Played at Clarence Ground, Southsea on Friday 11th June 2010.

This was the Colts first home game of the season and put Gosport into bat. Our bowlers took command of the game by restricting Gosport to only 5 gained runs after 8 overs, A.Birch doing the most damage by taking 3 wickets in one of his two overs. H.Tyacke followed this by taking 3 wickets in his first over for 1 run. Both C & E Saunders bowled well, 1 maiden & 1 wicket maiden between them and with a final flurry Gosport’s innings ended on 221/10. After the break it was USPCCs turn. Gosport bowled well, although over by over USPCC did have the upper hand. After the first 12 overs USPCC had only lost 2 wickets and had gained 28runs. However, with some good bowling on Gosport’s part and a slight lapse in concentration from US a further 5 wickets fell in a rather nailing biting finish of 237/7. A win of 16 runs. A good game of cricket from both sides and a result well deserved.

USPCC under 11s v Sarisbury under 11s

Played at Sarisbury Green, Tuesday 8th June 2010.

Second game of the season and another away game. USPCC opened the batting with a slow start but never lost focus and managed to add runs during every over finishing with a respectable 281 for 3. Sarisbury faced our bowlers and after 8 overs were restricted to 205 / 3 with J.Banfield picking up 2 wickets in his final two balls of his first over. A superb catch by H.Browne saw our opponents make only 5 runs in the next four overs. Further wickets taken by H.Gadd, A.Birch, C.Saunders and a brilliant caught & bowl by J.Clare saw the boys restrict Sarisbury to 241 / 6 and so won the game by 40 runs. An excellent game of cricket, played in great spirit – Well Done Boys.

USPCC under 11s v Fareham under 11s B team

Played at Bath Lane Recreation Ground, Friday 21st May 2010.

This was the first game of the season for our new Under 11s. USPCC were put into bat and after a nervous start, got into their stride. All the boys played well and by the end of their 20 overs had a reasonable score of 244. Fareham faced our new, novice bowlers, who again, after a shaky start and along with the rest of the team did the club proud. Wickets by C Saunders, J Browning and E Saunders however, was not enough and Fareham won the game by 38 runs.
